The digital guide ‘lehrbetriebwerden.ch’ is aimed especially at SMEs without their own HR department. Apprentices from Noser Young developed it together with their trainers and Swico. It outlines the key stages on the way to offering a first ICT apprenticeship.
The study ‘Demand forecast 2033 for ICT professionals’, commissioned by ICT-Berufsbildung Schweiz, shows rapidly growing demand for digital skills. In the coming years, Switzerland will need more than 128,000 additional ICT specialists.
Many young people bring motivation and curiosity. For this potential to turn into real career prospects, they need companies that create apprenticeships and nurture talent. Getting started remains challenging for businesses: processes are complex, information is scattered and the initial work takes time. The guide lowers the barriers and supports companies through the six stages of creating their own apprenticeship.
Having the right attitude matters too. The guide encourages companies to embrace working with young people. It deliberately takes a playful and humorous approach, helping create enthusiasm for the subject, goodwill within the company and room for fresh ideas.
Training apprentices benefits both society and the company. The guide shows that becoming a training company remains challenging, but with the right support it is achievable and rewarding. It grows with the experience of its users and develops step by step.
One hundred and thirteen young ICT talents demonstrated their skills at ICTskills2025 during SwissSkills in Bern from 17 to 21 September. They programmed, hacked, developed, photographed and designed. At the end, the Swiss champions in Web Technologies, Cyber Security, Mediamatics, IT Software Solutions for Business and Cloud Computing were crowned.
What we set in motion with the guide became tangible at ICTskills2025. That is why Swico supported the competition as one of the organisations behind the project.
